Do Allergies + Toys Spell TROUBLE?
Both had serious respiratory problems when they were babies, so we had to get a little creative in their bedroom arrangements. Instead of each girl having their own bedroom, they slept on bunk beds in a "clean room." We had mostly hard surfaces in there, with smooth vinyl flooring, metal beds without box springs, and no blinds. I damp mopped and wiped down the bed and window sills daily. The bunk bed mattresses were enclosed in vinyl covers, and I kept all the bedding washed regularly.
We then used the other larger bedroom as a playroom, with all their toys, stuffed animals, and dolls sleeping in that room. We built this huge heavy table, with bookcase supports, for them to not only write and play on top of, but to crawl under and play house underneath.
If your little one is having an unusually high number of respiratory illnesses, you might want to consider moving the toys out of their sleeping area. If they have a favorite stuffed animal or soft doll they insist on sleeping with, it really needs to be washable.
You'll find our suggestions for cleaning washable toys here. It's also a good idea to have duplicates of those special blankies, too, because any well loved teddy bear or soft doll gets lots of wear and tear.
We usually have about 500 or so mint condition stuffed animals and plush dolls in stock, but we normally only have about 100 listed online for sale (I'm too busy blogging to get all the listings done LOL). We've recently been able to help several mamas who emailed us to find duplicates for lovies that were lost or falling apart. Who knows, we may have the very one you've been looking for!
