Are YOU searching for a lost toy?

Check Our Own Plush Animals & Soft Dolls CATALOG, or CONTACT US

Maybe we've already FOUND one just like one you need. See what people are SEARCHING for. If you have one of these toys, or know where they can get one, please help these families out!

I read each request, do the initial search, request additional information and photos, and edit most of the photos. Often I do find the lovie, so those requests never show up on this blog. I answer each comment or email that comes in about a posted request, act as a go-between to link people who can help with those who need help, and add new requests as soon as I can. Due to health problems I got way behind posting requests, so now I am trying to stay current with requests and gradually catch up on the older requests.

I can't adequately thank all of you who search for all these lovies I do post about. I get the ball rolling, but YOU are the ones who make this site work!!

Do You Buy Dolls with Your Child's Skin and Hair Color?

My hubby came in today with a HUGE surprise for me from his weekend foray to the local yard sales and flea markets. He made me close my eyes, and then he put her in my hands. What should I find, but a doll that our younger daughter has had since she was 4 years old! She still has her doll to this day. We always called her "Little Emilie", because she looks just like her.

I got to thinking about the choices we make when buying dolls.

We're putting a Latino Homies stuffed doll on auction this week, and we recently sold the Piccaninny doll pattern and two Hispanic Dora the Explorer dolls. But I can't recall ever seeing a child's doll with Asian features, can you?

So, do you always buy dolls of the same ethnicity as your child? Do you consciously buy dolls with different ethnicities?

LOL! Come on computerjoe, anybody who writes as well as you do on your Webby's World blog certainly has something to say.

Thanks for the compliment and for stopping by, and please come again.

With only a few exceptions, our daughters both preferred stuffed animals to dolls, too.

But they didn't seem to have a particular animal as a favorite, like your daughter and her pigs.

I rarely buy my girls dolls -- they get so many as gifts! If I bought them, I would probably conciously buy some that did not look like them. At church, they have several dark-skinned dolls, and my girls will pick them up as often as the light-skinned ones.

Children are nowhere near as color conscious as adults tend to be, so your daughters' random choice of dolls of different skin tones is not surprising.

So I'm wondering, Gem, if other parents also make a choice to buy dolls with different ethnicities.
