Searching - My Favorite Childhood Dolls
We went to Florida one year, and of course they went, too. I left them on a window seat at the beach house while we were gone most of the day, and this was long before air conditioning. When we came back later that day, my beautifully ugly babies' faces had soaked up the blue color from the vinyl window seat. I was inconsolable, and can still get upset about that loss, after over 50 years! I wish I still had them, ruined blue faces and all, but I really don't remember what happened to them after that.

Have you been able to find another set to replace the ones that you lost?
I don't have even a clue as to what kind of dolls they were, but always have my eyes out for them. I figure sooner or later I'll find one. Then you'll see this old lady bidding away for sure!!
Childhood memories make it hard to be real specific, but I'm guessing they were about 12 or 14" long. The faces were rubbery soft, but I can't remember much about their hands and feet. They were soft, so I'm guessing cloth bodies.
Great Blog. I'm really enjoying your stories. They bring back a lot of memories of favorite toys.
Hi, I love to reminisce and to hear others remember their childhood memories. I still have my first babydoll and teddybear! They are 44 years old! My first memories are connected with baby pictures! One where I am about 2 years old. In the picture I am standing next to a rodaside picnic bench...my babydoll is in one hand and I'm waving bye-bye to my parents. They didn't leave me of course! I would be interested to find out more about them, but don't know how to go about researching. My babydoll is rubber with molded curly hair, blue eyes that roll open and closed, she is perfectly proportioned and my teddy bear is dark brown with moving head, arms and legs. They both are in my cedar chest, since God didn't give me a little girl to pass them on to!
Janey, if you could post some pictures, we'll do our best to help you identify your doll and bear. My mother was the original clutter free housewife, so I don't have any old toys. They were all handed down to cousins or thrown out. Our daughters won't be able to say that about me, at least, as they still have all their favorite toys, and I have a few they don't even know I kept LOL!
Thank you...I will post pictures asap!!!
