Are YOU searching for a lost toy?

Check Our Own Plush Animals & Soft Dolls CATALOG, or CONTACT US

Maybe we've already FOUND one just like one you need. See what people are SEARCHING for. If you have one of these toys, or know where they can get one, please help these families out!

I read each request, do the initial search, request additional information and photos, and edit most of the photos. Often I do find the lovie, so those requests never show up on this blog. I answer each comment or email that comes in about a posted request, act as a go-between to link people who can help with those who need help, and add new requests as soon as I can. Due to health problems I got way behind posting requests, so now I am trying to stay current with requests and gradually catch up on the older requests.

I can't adequately thank all of you who search for all these lovies I do post about. I get the ball rolling, but YOU are the ones who make this site work!!

Searching - Favorite Childhood Dolls FOUND, Well Almost...

Here's the original post I made about my favorite pair of ugly baby dolls, My Favorite Childhood Dolls.

Well, in trying to help someone locate information about their own childhood doll, I ran across some pictures of just what I've been looking for on the Antique Dolls Collectors Online Advisors, a research site I can definitely recommend to anyone trying to locate a vintage or collectible doll.

Horsman Squalling Baby Doll 1949
I remember them as being so ugly they were cute, and boy, was I right!!

Vintage Squalling Baby Dolls
I've since searched the Internet and can't find any for sale anywhere, but I'll certainly be on the lookout, now that I know that Horsman made them in 1949, and most importantly, their NAME, Squalling Babies!!

Does anyone remember these dolls? Horsman made a reproduction of them in 1980, so some of you "young whippersnappers" may remember those. If anyone runs across the original doll for sale, I sure would appreciate a heads up!

Look like the sort of things from which nightmares are made. Poor kids.

HA!! LOL!! I'm not going to disagree with you, Jonathan, based on these pictures, but I promise you, I loved them dearly. They looked and felt SO REAL!

These were some of the first vinyl dolls with realistic feeling skin, not hard like regular plastic, composition, or bisque head dolls that were common before this time.

Gee I should take a look at my nan's doll collection. She's been collecting them since she was a young girl and she's got dolls that are 50 years and older.

I'll have a look to see if she has any of these 'ugly dolls' in your post.

Thanks, Deb! I'd appreciate your taking the time to look. I'm sure my memory of them is better than the reality, but I'd still like to have one, ya know?
